Community & Support Services
Advocacy & Referrals
Helping people find their voice, access support and move forward
Overview
Life can sometimes feel complicated. Whether you're trying to access services, understand your rights, navigate government systems, support a family member or simply find the right help, knowing where to start can often feel overwhelming.
At MCCSC, we believe everyone deserves access to information, support and opportunities that enable them to live with dignity, confidence and independence. Our Advocacy & Referrals Service helps individuals, families and community members navigate challenges, connect with appropriate services and access the support they need to achieve positive outcomes.
You don't have to navigate life's challenges alone.
Sometimes the most important support is having someone stand beside you, listen to your story and help you find a way forward.
How we can help
Every person's situation is different. Some people need information. Some need referrals. Some need support understanding their options. Others simply need someone who can help them navigate complex systems and services. Our team takes the time to listen, understand your circumstances and connect you with the most appropriate support available.
Advocacy support
Advocacy is about helping people understand their rights, make informed decisions and have their voices heard. MCCSC can assist by:
- Providing information and guidance
- Supporting individuals to understand available options
- Helping people navigate services and systems
- Assisting with access to community resources
- Connecting individuals with specialist advocacy organisations when required
- Supporting people to communicate their needs and goals
- Promoting self-advocacy and informed decision-making
Our goal is to empower individuals to confidently access the support and opportunities available to them.
Referrals to trusted services
Finding the right support can often be challenging. Through our extensive network of community organisations, government agencies, service providers and specialist partners, MCCSC helps connect individuals and families with services that meet their needs. Referrals may include:
- Settlement and community support services
- Employment and career pathways
- Education and training opportunities
- Mental health and wellbeing services
- Housing and accommodation support
- Disability and NDIS services
- Family and carer support services
- Financial and emergency assistance
- Legal and specialist support services
- Health and community wellbeing programs
Our role is to help ensure people are connected to the right support, at the right time.
Where Advocacy & Referrals can take you
Advocacy & Referrals is often the starting point. From here, we help connect you to the right MCCSC program for your situation:
Connecting communities to opportunities
Advocacy is not only about solving problems — it is also about helping people access opportunities that improve their quality of life. Through MCCSC's community networks and partnerships, we support individuals to build confidence and independence, access education and training, participate in community activities, explore employment opportunities, connect with support networks, and strengthen social and economic participation. We believe every person deserves the opportunity to thrive and contribute to their community.
Supporting multicultural communities
People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds may face additional barriers when accessing information, services and support. MCCSC provides culturally responsive assistance that respects individual experiences, cultural backgrounds and community connections. We work to ensure people feel understood, respected and empowered throughout their journey.
A community that supports one another
At MCCSC, advocacy is about more than referrals and information. It is about building trust, creating connections and helping people move forward with confidence. When people have access to the right support, they are better equipped to overcome challenges, achieve their goals and actively participate in community life.
Because strong communities are built when people know where to turn and feel supported along the way.
