Justice of the Peace (JP)

A qualified Justice of the Peace can witness statutory declarations and affidavits, and certify copies of original documents. As required in NSW, this service is provided free of charge.

Notary Public

Public Notaries are available at MCCSC to support the community. If you are in Australia and need to verify your overseas documents for various reasons, our appointed Notary Public can notarise and authenticate documents as required.

Both services are strictly by appointment. Please contact us before attending to confirm availability and bring all required documents.

Public Notary Services

Public Notaries have been available at MCCSC to support the multicultural community. If you are in Australia and would like to verify your overseas documents for various reasons, our Public Notary is available by appointment at Suite E, 111 Main Street, Blacktown NSW 2148.

Required documents

  • You must bring all the original documents for verification purposes.
  • You must carry copies of documents for notarisation.
  • The format should be the format required by overseas organisations. Replicas of such records must be coloured photocopies that are exactly like the original documents.
  • MCCSC offers photocopying services on a limited basis, which are chargeable extra.
  • The original documents should not have any unspecified corrections or crossed words.

How to apply

Applicants first register through our online appointment system to meet a Public Notary at our Blacktown office. You may also contact us directly by phone to book a telephone or in-person appointment.

A standard fee applies for notarial services. Fees will be advised at the time of booking.

Justice of the Peace

JP Services

A Justice of the Peace (JP) is a person appointed by the Governor of NSW to serve the community by performing a range of functions. MCCSC has a qualified JP available to the community free of charge, as required under NSW law.

What a JP can do

  • Witness statutory declarations
  • Witness affidavits
  • Certify copies of original documents
  • Witness signatures on legal documents

What to bring

  • The original document to be witnessed or certified
  • Copies of the document (for certification)
  • Valid photo ID (e.g. passport, driver licence)
